Researching Your Mayan Artifact

RESEARCHING YOUR MAYAN ARTIFACT

Your job today is to find an artifact like the one you sketched when we were at the Mayborn  in Waco last September, and write about it on a notecard.  Bend the notecard into a tent, then write on the blank side.  This will sit next to your artifact when you display it.

The information you want to include is:

WHAT YOUR PIECE IS (Bowl, Censor, Dish, etc.)
WHO CREATED IT (Maya)
APPROXIMATE DATE WHEN IT WAS MADE

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY

There are 7 pages of Mayan artifacts at this website!

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA

This is an amazing site with 10 pages of just Mayan artifacts!

If you don't find any pottery like yours after looking at these two websites for several minutes, go to the
Google Images website and type in "Ancient Mayan Pottery."  It will bring up many pictures.  If you see one that looks like yours, click on it, and it will bring up a bigger version.  Behind that bigger picture will be some writing that will tell about that piece.
