Hello, Students,
You will have no specific reading homework this week, but read something of your choice every day for your reading log! Remember that your visual book report is DUE on the Monday we get back--a week from today, Monday, November 29.
Here are your spelling words and homework assignments for the week after this--you can start on your spelling words now and be ahead!
MONDAY, November 29: You will give your oral book report (same as the summary you wrote today.) You will mention the author, the main events and characters, and the problem of the story. You will also need to tell us about your visual project and it's place in the book.
TUESDAY, November 30: If needed, continue with student book reports. You will get the book, If You Lived When There Was Slavery in America. You will begin reading in class, and will have to read from page 1-17. You will have a quiz over this information tomorrow. You will need to take notes as you read—main idea for each short chapter’s information. HOMEWORK: Read and study (take notes) on pages 1-17 in Slavery book for quiz tomorrow.
WEDNESDAY, December 1: You will have quiz over If You Lived When There Was Slavery in America, pages 1-17. Discussion will follow. HOMEWORK for Friday: Read Chapter 1-2 in The Witch of Blackbird Pond (pages 1-28) for Friday. You will also write in a “Reader’s Response Journal” that we will get ready in class.
WEDNESDAY, December 1: You will have quiz over If You Lived When There Was Slavery in America, pages 1-17. Discussion will follow. THURSDAY, December 2: HOMEWORK: Study for Spelling Test on Friday and finish reading Chapters 1 and 2 in The Witch of Blackbird Pond; Journal.
FRIDAY, December 3: Spelling Test; Discussion over Chapters 1 and 2 of Witch of BBP. Journals due. You will begin reading Chapters 3 and 4; write in your Journals, and study for a quiz over the first 4 chapters on Monday. HOMEWORK: Read Chapters 3 and 4 of Witch of BBP and write in Journals for Monday; Study chapters 1-4 for quiz on Monday, December 6.
