Well, it's half-time at the Super Bowl and I thought I'd take this opportunity to post for the week. I hope you've had a nice, long weekend and were able to build something fun out of the snow!
This week, you will continue working on your book reports on the "colonial" story each of you chose. You should be finished reading the whole book by tomorrow, and you will do one last summary of the falling action, ending, any character changes, and solution of the conflict that the protagonist has been in throughout your book.
I just finished reading A Country of Strangers by Conrad Richter, and it is really sad--True Son does come into the story toward the end to help the main character, a girl who is no longer accepted by the Indians or by the whites. It is a great book, and I would recommend it to any of you who want to see the story of the Lenni Lenape continue. I wish there were other books to follow.
Your book report set and costume designs are due a week from tomorrow, on Valentine's Day. Your scripts of either a monologue or dialogue are due on Friday, February 18. However, if possible, could you have those done by Monday, the 14th too? I know that two of you are basically done with everything. You're going to get to write the next play for Chapel while the others finish working on their book reports.
Tomorrow, Monday, be ready to turn in your reading logs from Friday and take last week's spelling test. There is another spelling test this Friday, February 11, but it is short and requires no vocabulary.
In history, you will each be researching one of the Middle Colonies, adding those to your maps, and filling in charts about those 4 colonies. I'm going to ask you, Skylar, to read about and report on Benjamin Franklin of the Pennsylvania Colony.
Below, please find your spelling words. I'll see you tomorrow!
