LITERATURE: Week of February 21-25

Happy President's Day! You get the day off while I get to talk about YOU with your parents! Don't worry, all is good. Have fun being home, and I'll see you on Tuesday.

Since this week is short, we won't have any spelling words or a spelling test on Friday. You will continue to read Amos Fortune for class discussions. We will hopefully also be able to access some very interesting information about slaves and their stories online. The picture you see above is a copy of the REAL freedom papers of Amos!

Your homework is below:

HOMEWORK due Tuesday: Read Chapters 3 and 4 of Amos for discussion in class.

HOMEWORK due Wednesday: Read the next two chapters in Amos Fortune, “Journey to Keene 1779” and “The Arrival at Jaffrey” for discussion during class on Wednesday.

HOMEWORK due Thursday: Read the next chapter in Amos Fortune, “Hard Work Fills the Iron Kettle 1781-1789” for discussion during class on Thursday.

HOMEWORK due Friday: Read the next chapter in Amos Fortune, “Amos on the Mountain” for discussion during class on Friday.

HOMEWORK due Monday, February 28: Read the last two chapters in Amos Fortune, “Auctioned for Freedom” and “The Evergreen Years 1794-1801” for discussion during class on Monday.
