This week, we will be having our debate (finally!) on the best theory as to what happened to the Roanoke Colony, and will be continuing on to the Jamestown Colony. Jamestown was the first permanent British colony in the New World, but it almost wasn’t! We’ll find out why.
Instead of assigning a new novel to you this week, I’ve ordered a book called Blood on the River about Jamestown, that I’m going to read aloud to you while you all work on a 3-D map of Jamestown. You have become so great at creating 3-D buildings out of paper, that I couldn’t resist having you make a model of Jamestown!
You will have a spelling test next Monday, February 27, with words from our history book. This is also the book you will be reading for your homework assignments.
READING ASSIGNMENTS:
Wednesday night: Read Chapters 3 and 4 (pp. 21-28) in your new history book: Vol 2: Making Thirteen Colonies. You will be able to use your book and chart on a short quiz I will give you over the reading Thursday in class.
