LITERATURE & HISTORY: February 27-March 2


We once again find ourselves on the high seas, this time sailing with the British aboard the Mayflower. This unit will include reading about the" re-mix" of the first voyage, as well as the Journal of William Bradford and the Mayflower Compact. For part of the week, your reading assignment will come from the short National Geographic book, Mayflower 1620: A New Look at a Pilgrim Voyage. Later in the week, I will be asking you to do some reading out of The History of US.

Below is your homework for the week, along with this week's words for Monday's test.

HOMEWORK for the Week of February 27-March 2, 2012

For MONDAY (February 27): Spelling Test from last week's words. HOMEWORK: Read pages 6-26 in Mayflower 1620 so that we can discuss it in class tomorrow—there will be a quiz.

TUESDAY: Discussion and quiz over pages 6-26 in Mayflower. HOMEWORK: Read pages 27-39 in Mayflower 1620 for discussion and quiz during Wednesday's class.

WEDNESDAY: Discussion and quiz over pages 27-39 of Mayflower. HOMEWORK: Read pages 41-46 in Mayflower 1620 for discussion and quiz during Thursday’s class.

THURSDAY: Discussion and quiz over pages 41-46 in Mayflower 1620. Read excerpts from William Bradford's Diary and from The Mayflower Compact during class, with discussion. HOMEWORK: Read Chapters13 and 14 in The History of US and fill out note-taking chart you will be given.

FRIDAY: Discussion and quiz over chapters 13 and 14 (pages 51-57) in The History of US. HOMEWORK: Study spelling words for Monday’s test.
