Howdy, Pardners!
Sorry to be getting this out so late this weekend--I almost forgot I needed to do it! This week is going to be a week to get things finished and the loose ends "tied up."
When I pick you up each morning, Monday-Thursday, we will go straight to the computer lab so that you can work on your three PowerPoint slides for your ABCs of Johnny Tremain. I will be giving you a rubric tomorrow with the expectations of what should be on each slide. BRING YOUR OWN THUMB DRIVES from home if you have one. That way, when your slides are completed and saved on your thumb drive, I can take those and compile one PPt from the 26 slides.
We will spend half of our time in the computer lab each day, and the other half upstairs continuing to watch the United Streaming series on The Revolutionary War. You have your Causes of the Revolution Test on Tuesday. Remember that you must also be able to recite the opening to the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday--you choose how much you want to memorize based on the grade you want to receive. Remember that if you want some "easy" extra credit, you need to find an article about the present day Tea Party and the illegal targeting of them by the IRS that has been in the news lately, and bring it in!
We have our last spelling test on Friday, and you must turn in your last reading log on Friday, too! Since you have no reading assignments this week, you need to be reading 30 minutes each night from a book of your choice!
This week, we have a few special events:
Tuesday night is your Music Concert. You will need to be in the Music Room by 6:15. Miss Boyd writes
"The kids need to wear a white shirt/blouse (no print on them please) and khaki bottoms (pants, shorts, and skirts). I'm not going to be picky about shoes this concert because some of them have to get down on the floor when they play boom whackers."
On Friday, the Zoo Man will come with his "pets" at 10:30. That is also the day that we begin our Johnny Tremain book reports, and Teach the Teacher lessons with our first three students. Please link to the document below that will tell you about this schedule. You will also get a copy in class tomorrow.
Your spelling words for your last test are below. Please study! Grades have definitely dropped on spelling tests since I began giving them (at your request) on Fridays.
Have a nice, restful Sunday!
