VOCABULARY for Monday's Test

Hello, Students!  I have decided to make it a little easier for you to do your vocabulary on Monday's test.  Instead of having to write the definition from memory, the definitions will be given to you.  You will have to recognize which spelling word the definition is for, and write that spelling word in the blank after the definition.

I have listed the 8 definitions and spelling words below:





A positive assertion = affirmation

A petty officer on a ship in charge of the hull = boatswain  

A stream of water moving swiftly in a particular direction = current

Pretended = feigned

The forward part of the upper deck of a ship = forecastle

Glory to God in the Highest = Gloria in excelsis Deo

Mild or moderate = temperate

Most exalted or supreme = sovereign
